Close to 30% of Gen Z Adults , Identify As LGBTQ, , Survey Finds.<br />NBC reports that a new survey has found that over <br />1 in 4 Gen Z adults in the United States identify as <br />either lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender or queer.<br />According to a report released by the Public Religion <br />Research Institute (PRRI), 28% of Gen Z adults identify <br />as LGBTQ, dwarfing the percentage of older age groups.<br />Comparatively, the survey found that 10% of all U.S. adults, <br />16% of millennials, 7% of Generation X, 4% of baby boomers <br />and 4% of the Silent Generation identify as LGBTQ.<br />With respect to LGBTQ identity, <br />it’s very clear that Gen Z adults <br />look different than older Americans, Melissa Deckman, PRRI chief executive, via NBC.<br />NBC reports that the findings are similar to other <br />major surveys, including a Gallup poll that showed <br />Gen Z to be the queerest adult generation.<br />Gallup's most recent poll found that <br />7.2% of adults in the U.S. identify<br />as LGBTQ, including 20% of Gen Z. .<br />The news comes as LGBTQ rights have <br />been increasingly challenged across the U.S., <br />with over 500 anti-LGBTQ bills introduced last year.<br />According to the American Civil Liberties <br />Union, 75 of those bills were signed into law.<br />Whether it’s at the polls, <br />in marches and rallies, <br />or online, LGBTQ+ visibility <br />matters and Gen Z is <br />a force for change, Kelley Robinson, President of the <br />Human Rights Campaign, via NBC.<br />Thousands of LGBTQ+ <br />young people turn 18 <br />each day — and lawmakers <br />should understand there will <br />be repercussions in November <br />for anti-LGBTQ+ political attacks, Kelley Robinson, President of the <br />Human Rights Campaign, via NBC
